Hermit Crab Cage

Like humans, crabs also crave to have their own ‘home’.  Your tropical friends like to move! They can spend the whole day walking, climbing, exploringwith their hermit crab supplies and sometimes they’ll create the sound of “scritch scritch” as their cute little legs move along the sands. That said, you should have a hermit crab cage, which is large enough to accommodate all their moving! And although you may simply want to have a singular crab as a pet, it would be more sensible to allow them to have their companions since they are typically a jolly creatures. Get them in pairs, at very least.

You may want to ensure that your land hermit crab cage contains a temperature, which isn’t too warm or too cold, you should have it just right. The advisable temperature is 72 degrees Fahrenheit.  Never put them on places with direct sunlight—not unless you wish to have baked crab for lunch. To provide the needed warmness, you can buy under-sand heater to help you with the job.

The right size of tank must be just about the ten-gallon aquarium tank. The sides must be deep enough in order for your darling pet not to escape when you aren’t watching over them! The thing to consider is; they should be able to climb into the wall but there should be enough space for them to move around. Furthermore, don’t forget to furnish them with other essential items such as:
•    Food and water dish – the water dish should be large enough to allow them to climb but not too deep that it will make your pet drown!
•    Spare hermit crab shells essentially for molting season – while your land hermit crabs are starting to grow, they will have to get rid of their usual shell and look for larger ones hence you may want to furnish them with their needs all along.
•    Climbing toys – you can make use of empty clay flower pot, driftwood, or even plastic reptile ladders so they can be entertained.

As a rule of the thumb, never ever place anything in your hermit crab cage that you won’t put into the usual fish tank. Like fishes, straight tap water can’t be used since they are full of unknown chemicals which can harm your precious buddies. At the very least, you must ensure to dechlorinate the water first.
Moreover, making use of a huge sea-sponge placed within a dish with water will also help ensure humidity within the tank– hermies crave for moist tropical environment. But before anything else, the sponge must be sterilized beforehand and it may require periodic cleaning to ensure cleanliness at all times. Proper sanitation is always needed.
Truly, you will enjoy your pets the most if you have the right hermit crab cage for them so you may want to always ensure that their habitat is a suitable dwelling place for them. Get rid of objects that may cause them danger and never ever try to leave them while the lid is open!
